Toques off to Executive Chef Steve Hamilton, the star of our popular Gaslamp Quarter restaurant. This seasoned industry veteran oversees all food and beverage operations at JSix and Upper East, as well as Solamar's banquets, in-room dining, and private dining offerings.

Chef Hamilton, a New England native, brings more than two decades of experience to his role at our welcoming downtown eatery. Before landing here, he served as Chef at Better Sorts Social Club in Boston, where he played a pivotal role in the 2018 re-conception and renovation of the popular cocktail bar and small bites gastropub. When Hamilton isn't producing flavorful masterpieces in the kitchen, he's out exploring San Diego's buzzing downtown or stunning coastline, wandering local farmers markets and tasting his way across this delicious city.

At JSix, Chef Hamilton's ever-changing menu merges San Diego's abundant bounty with his Northeast roots. Come experience the magic for yourself, while sampling dishes that feature fresh coastal cuisine and East Coast ingredients Chef has long used and loved. Savor elevated comfort foods that range from Lobster Mac and Cheese (featuring orecchiette and gruyere) and Smoked Chicken Wings (rubbed in Jamaican jerk and orange mojo) to the Bucatini & Burrata Crab, tossed with corn, heirloom tomato, pea shoots, anchovy and fried bread crumbs. And then, of course, you'll find New England staples (with a West Coast spin), like the not-to-be-missed OG Lobster Roll.
